Description

Methylhexanamine (trade names Forthane, Geranamine) or methylhexamine, commonly known as 1,3-dimethylamylamine (1,3-DMAA) or simply dimethylamylamine (DMAA). Methylhexanamine is an indirect sympathomimetic drug that constricts blood vessels and thus has effects on the heart, lungs, and reproductive organs. It also causes bronchodilation, inhibits peristalsis in the intestines, and has diuretic effects. Methylhexanamine is synthesized by reacting 4-methylhexan-2-one with hydroxylamine, which converts the 4-methylhexan-2-one to 4-methylhexan-2-one oxime, which is reduced with hydrogen by means of a catalyst, the resulting methylhexanamine can be purified by distillation. Methylhexanamineis a monoamine with a stimulating and euphoric effect similar to that of caffeine. In the brain 1,3-dimethylamylamine affects mood and emotions, increases mental concentration. This is due to an increase in the concentration of dopamine and norepinephrine in the intersynaptic spaces. DMAA is considered four to ten times stronger than caffeine, without causing toxicity and harm to the body. It is often included in sports nutrition to improve performance and fat burning.
